"Mother!" cried Terrance again. "It's gonna get me!"
The door opened again and Mother turned the light back on.
    "What's wrong?" asked Mother.
"When you shut the door something tried to get out from under the bed and get me!" exclaimed Terrance.
"I told you before," explained Mother, "It's only your imagination. Try imagining the monster as something that can't hurt you and there's no reason you should be scared."
Terrance's lower lip quivered in argument.
"And I'll have the light on," added Mother. "Just for tonight."
Terrance fell back onto the pillow of his bed and closed his eyes. "Thank you," he told Mother.
Mother closed the door, leaving the light on this time.
